Kyle

This sweet baby boy turned 4 today!  I can't believe it has been 4 years already.

This was him at his b-day last year.

 Here he is this year.  Notice he is wearing the exact same shirt, which I thought was hillarious.  My dad built him the picnic table for his birthday and all 3 kids have loved it.  This is them tonight eating his chosen pizza and breadsticks.

Here he is opening his gifts yesterday.  Waiting for this to come was killing him.  When I decorated Saturday he said "finally its my birthday."  Sunday morning he decided he didn't want anyone at his party and maybe we should just open gifts.  He made it til after church but almost didn't make it til my parents arrived.

Evan is excited and Kyle looks confused.  Oh, and check out our new recliner.

 I think it's funny he picked Batman (although not a Batman cake) because that is what Evan picked for his 4th birthday.

All in all he had a great b-day.  We were going to go do something fun today, but he wanted to just stay home and play Lego StarWars.  It turned out that was good since I ended up getting strep throat and having to go to the doctor.  I haven't even been able to be around him today.

Kyle is such a fun addition to our family.  He has grown up a lot in the past year.  He is starting to learn his letters and says all sorts of fun stuff.  A few of my favorite quotes recently.

"Remember when Grace puked on the floor.  That was unacceptable."

In the car "Daddy, you forgot to buckle me... Awkward!" with the perfect inflection on it.

Reading

I love that Evan has learned how to read, and so do his siblings.  It is so cute watching them do stuff like this together.

Soccer

 

We did it!  We survived our first soccer season with 2 soccer players.  Kyle was frequently less than enthusiastic at the games, but he had fun.  9 o'clock is just a little too early for him to be playing soccer.  

He did make contact with the ball which is always good.

 

The last game he got to take the ball down the field for the kick off.  He dribbled it sooooo slowly down the field, then finally did a big kick toward the other team.  Immediately some kid on the other team booted it back and it nailed poor Kyle in the stomach.  Hopefully he forgets about that before next year.

 

Evan improved a lot this year.  He managed to get in to the mix a lot more, and even learned to pass and managed to score 3 goals.

I love the wall waiting for the other team.  They had to stay back until the other team dribbled it past half field, then they could attack.  It made it so everybody could kick the ball some which was nice.

In the end Evan's team was undefeated. 

By the end of the season even Grace had figured out what she was supposed to do for our 2 hours of soccer games.  She did pretty well not running on the field, although it did happen a few times.

She also loved getting herself stuck in the big nets.  Lucky for me it didn't rain too hard on us (these pictures were from our one sunny day) and hopefully next year Brandon will be able to come to some games too.

Happenings

First up on the update, Easter.  It was fun to have our first Easter in this house.  So many new places for the Easter Bunny to hide things.

The boys managed to find their baskets and were glad to see the Easter Bunny remembered to get them a toy (Evan informed me the Easter Bunny always brings a toy).

Gotta love Grace's crazy hair.  She wasn't really sure what to do with the eggs.  She collected the big ones and struggled figuring out how to carry 2 of them until she realized she could put one in her basket.  Pretty entertaining to watch a one-year-old try to figure out what is going on with these strange traditions.

In other happenings, I turned 30.  The kids were too excited once they bought the presents, so we opened them 2 days early.

I had lots of helpers with the unwrapping.

They bought me a princess crown.

 Which Grace quickly confiscated as her own.  Please pardon my crazy laughing face.

My rice krispy treat cake on my actual birthday.  The roses were from our anniversary the day before, 9 years already.  We failed to take any pictures and we totally should have.  We went to the Taco Truck for dinner and ate it in the Target parking lot. To follow it up we bought some deoderant.  Not super romantic, but still nice to get away for a few minutes just the two of us.
