Texas

 I'm out of order on this, but on our way to the Bahamas we decided to stop in Texas for a few days to see my sister.  Sadly her husband's family ended up planning a family reunion at the same time, so we didn't see Ben or Deacon, but we enjoyed our few days with Katie and Paige.  It was our first trip to Texas and very fun to see where they are living now.

We did Tex-Mex one night.

 On the coolest of our days there - probably still 90 degrees, we headed to downtown Dallas to see the sights.  This was a replica of the car JFK was shot in.  You can tell Paige wasn't super enthused.

 The JFK memorial.  I really feel like a president who was killed in office should get something more elaborate than a box, which is what this felt like.  

 Overlooking the street where he was killed.  They even have x marks in the street so you can see where exactly the car was for each shot.  It was a fascinating history lesson for us and the kids.

 Some random man came up and explained all sorts of the conspiracy theories about JFK, and a bunch of the history and details of where the events occurred.  In the end it cost us a few bucks to buy the newspaper he was pedaling, but it was worth it.  The red brick building here was the jail where Oswald was kept, he even pointed out which cell.

 If I remember right this was the court building they were taking him to.

 Texas BBQ.  The boys loved the food here and ate a ton.  After dinner you get unlimited ice cream and peach cobbler which was also a hit.

Pretty sure Grace only ate the ice cream but she was happy.

Somehow I don't have any pictures from Katie's house, or swimming at our pool, but it happened.  The kids enjoyed watching movies in the movie room, although they abandoned it pretty much every night to go sleep on the couches.  We loved swimming in her little neighborhood pool, and even enjoyed a walk around the neighborhood one humid/hot morning.  Thanks for a great visit Katie and Paige!
