He earned his trophy

This is the first shot of the game, and the first shot he made all season. He ended up with 6 points today, it would have been 8 but one of his teammates blocked one of his shots.

The First of Many

Evan's basketball season comes to a close Saturday, and since we are going to miss the banquet on Sunday we got his trophy early. He is so excited to have his first trophy. He wandered the house with it last night for about an hour, and even let Kyle see it, before he spun the basketball too hard and broke it. Lucky we have a glue gun on hand. It doesn't spin anymore, but he still loves it. It has his name on it and everything.

We are very sleepy

Due to all of the flu, tonsilitis, bronchitis, sinus infections, fevers, etc at our house the past few weeks, there has been a lot of napping. Luckily, I think we are on the mend now, but I took a few sleeping pictures to show you our life. The boys (both boys) started sleeping in their big boy bunk beds. I can't believe baby Kyle is no longer in a crib, but he loves his big boy bed. Evan loves having him on the bottom bunk while he is on the top. If you look close in the picture, you'll see them both passed out for the night. Thankfully they are both sleeping much better in their new beds (Kyle was too fat for the crib mattress to offer much support).
I woke up late on morning, and Brandon had crawled back in bed, so the boys were on their own. I came out and found them snuggled on up on the couch together passed out. They stayed that way for a couple of hours.
One day I had to go to the doctor (and the meds I got are working wonders). I got home and Evan had turned out all the lights and turned the tv off so it was quiet while Daddy and Kyle were sleeping. Pretty cute! In Brandon's defense he was trying to stay awake and watch the kids after having worked the entire night before, so he deserved a nap.

Evan's Big Week

Evan has had an exciting week. He started "preschool" on Tuesday. I have no pictures because he refused, but he is now going to a music class twice a week with 4 other kids. He loves it and feels like a big boy now that he goes to "school."
Second on his list of fun things this week was a new haircut. We told him he looked like a shaggy dog and he agreed, so above is what he ended up with.
He started basketball practices three weeks ago, and Saturday was the first big game. This is the boys ready to head out for the game. Kyle is looking over game plans, aka his Elmo stickers, and Evan is enjoying a healthy breakfast of Yogos to get himself ready.
Evan's turn to take the ball down the court. I love how the other team stands in a line with their hands up on defense, and our team joins in. That is pretty much how it went the whole game. At least they are getting the general idea, and Evan had fun.
After the game back to our place for some Wii golfing with Gramps. He made Grammie play Sonic and Mario Olympic Games and kept telling her she didn't win. I think he liked showing off his Wii skills.
While they were here for the game Gramps and my dad installed the new rails and ladder on the bunk beds. My dad built them and we got them stained so they look like they belong. The boys are totally excited about their new beds. Evan slept on the top bunk for the first three hours last night, then crawled into bed with me. Once he gets the hang of it we are moving Kyle in to. Next my dad is making us a wall unit and dresser so that the boys will be ready to share a room by the time baby #3 gets here (hopefully well before so we can get that room ready too).
To finish out his big week, Evan decided to get sick with Kyle and I. This is pretty much what we've looked like today. Just laying around in sweats on the couches trying not to do much.

Poor Sick Baby

I went to Utah for a week to see my siblings, go wedding dress shopping with Katie, and see Bryce and Camille's new baby, Graham. It was a fun trip but I got sick with a cold the day we arrived. Just as I was starting to get better I got home, and baby Kyle was sick (I guess I have to quit calling him baby soon). It has been so sad to see him so wiped out. These are what we've seen the past two days.
He fell asleep on the floor in the hall at one point, but I was trying to sleep and didn't get a picture. He had a fever of 103 yesterday, but we are now down to 101 and on antibiotics. I took him to the doctor this morning and he either has tonsilitis or strep throat, but because he won't cooperate he couldn't do the throat culture.
He has perked up a little with the meds and is at least eating and drinking a little again. It was scary when my big fat baby wouldn't eat or drink anything. Hopefully we are on the mend. Also, he outgrew all his clothes, and shoes, while I was in Utah. He is a big boy!

10" Pan Pizza

1 large russet potato, peeled and cut for boiling

1 1/2 tsp rapid-rise yeast

3 1/2 C flour

1 C warm water

1 3/4 tsp salt

Extra virgin olive oil

1. Boil potato in water til tender, allow to cool and grate, measure 1 1/3 cups of grated potato and get rid of the rest.

2. Mix yeast, 1/2 cup flour, and 1/2 cup warm water until combined. Cover with plastic wrap and let stand until bubbly (about 20 minutes). Add to yeast mixture, 2 Tbsp olive oil, remaining 1/2 cup water, 3 cups flour, salt, and potato. I used my kitchen-aid mixer to mix the dough for about five minutes. Dough is slightly tacky. Lightly oil a medium bowl and coat the dough ball with the oil and cover with plastic wrap. Place in warm area until dough doubles in size, (35 minutes). I turned on the oven t0 200 degrees and then turned it off after it preheated and set the dough in there to rise.

3. Grease 2 10" pans with olive oil. Turn dough onto a clean, dry work surface and divide in half. Pat the havles into 2 9 inch rounds. Place rounds in pans, cover with plastic wrap and let dough rest for 10 minutes

4. Preheat oven to 425 (if you have tiles or pizza stones, place them in the oven) with the rack on the lowest setting. Uncover dough, and pull up edges to form 1" high lips. Cover with plastic wrap; let rise and double in size (30 minutes). Uncover and poke dough with fork all over. Slide pans in the oven for 5-10 minutes. Pull back out and add desired toppings. Return to oven for 10-15 minutes, move pizza to top rack for 5 minutes to make cheese a spotty brown.

5. Pull out, let cool 5 minutes, Bon appetit.

Let's here it for the boys!

Becca is down in Utah the rest of this week to shop for wedding dresses with her sister and other girl stuff, so it's just me and the boys. I've been meaning to try out this pizza recipe for a little while now. You make your own dough and sauce, so it's a little time consuming, but the end product is awesome. Its a panned pizza with a deep, crusty, chewy, crust. Evan was pretty pumped to put on the cheese and pepperoni. The boys wouldn't even look up for a picture. I'm definitly going to do this one again. The recipe makes two 10"rounds, so Becca and I will enjoy a greater variety of toppings while the boys eat their pepperoni.
