Here Come the Sun...Finally

Yesterday it was still 80 degrees at 7 o'clock at night. Seeing as this was a first for the year, the boys decided to run through the sprinkler. Here they are contemplating their next move. We realized all their swimsuits are at my parent's house, so they went in pajama bottoms, and yes I told Evan to pull his shorts down...he just thinks they are funny pulled up to his chin.
Kyle didn't hesitate at all. I thought he might freak out a bit, but he walked right up to the thing and got wet. I guess it helps that the water shoots out in the same spots the whole time, so he could decide when he wanted to get wet.

This was pretty much how it went. Kyle stood their laughing and screaming, and Evan ran around doing the same. I'm sure it is our first of many sprinkler parties for the summer (assuming the sun continues to show itself around here).

Lake Fun....Sort Of

We thought the fish were finally biting off of my parents dock, so we took the boys down to try to catch their first fish of the season.Evan had one in less than a minute after his pole was ready.
Apparently that was the only fish though, and Kyle was not too happy about that....or having to wear a life jacket.
So he threw himself to the ground and screamed. I of course took a picture, but then I rescued the poor little beached child.
We gave up on fishing and went for a boat ride. Both boys love to drive the boat. Give them a couple of years and they can drive while we go tubing.

Photo Shoot

We decided to try to attempt to take some cute pictures of the boys yesterday. We needed a good one of Kyle for his birthday , and the last 8 by 10 I have of the boys together Kyle is really little. So we dressed them up and went to my parents to give it a try. There were many , many pictures taken, so here is a small sampling.

Party Over Here

This past weekend we had Lauren, Ben, and Rachel over for a slumber party (Brandon's brother Doug's kids). We had a great time, and took a few photos to document our activities. The kids loved looking for bullfrogs in the back pond. We saw a ton, but had no luck catching them. When catching a bullfrog didn't pan out they resorted to playing in the sand next to the pond. They even buried each other in it like you do at the beach. Needless to say they all needed a bath when we went in.
Kyle liked the sand, but was a little more cautious about getting it down his pants than the rest of the kids. I love his modified crawl here.
We set the tent up in the living room that night. It was cozy in there with all their blankets, pillows, sleeping bags, the 8 foot stuffed snake, etc. I thought there would be actual sleeping taking place since they are still young. I was wrong. They stayed up til sometime past 11, and Rachel got them all up at 6:30 the next morning to watch cartoons.
The played cards before church Sunday. No worries, just some Go Fish and Old Maid. Here they are all ready for church. We thought we did alright getting all 5 kids ready, and we even managed to get to church 10 minutes early. It makes me wonder why we struggle to just be on time when it is just our two kids. All in all it was a fun filled weekend, and Evan is already asking when they get to come again.

Haircuts

Tonight, I (Brandon) cut the boys hair before bed. Evan is a bit shaggy (he also has chocolate on his lip for added decor). I usually don't like to cut Evan's hair because he likes it "soft" meaning no hair product. That also means he likes the top with a little length on it.
It's difficult to blend it when it's so long on top and so platinum in the sun. When he looked in the mirror, he said "eh.. it's pretty good." Then he strutted around the house, so I think I did okay. This will be Kyle's second cut. He's got these 5" long hairs on top that flip up in the wind and come down past the shorter ones in front. It's kinda goofy lookin' with the toothy grin. Perhaps this is why he's the fuzzy boy.
There he is, looking quite dapper. "mmm, frog leg"

While I was Showering

Kyle went down for a nap early this morning (since he didn't sleep well last night) so I hopped in the shower. Well, he only slept 30 minutes, so he woke up just after I got in. Evan let me know and then said he'd take care of him while I got ready. I got to dry my hair and everything with no crying or screaming from down the hall. This is what I found when I went to check on them. The happy helper.
What he used for entertainment. He emptied Kyle's entire shelf, plus a few other things, into the crib. I guess whatever works. I could get used to showering and getting ready in peace.

In other news, Kyle went to the doctor Monday, and despite popular belief, he is not short and fat. He was 32 inches tall which is the 95th percentile for height, and 25 lbs 14 oz which is only the 90th percentile for weight. So really, he's long and lean. Also, his head is not off the charts, just a petite 90th percentile noggin.

Birthday Boy

So today is Kyle's actual birthday. It's hard to believe it has already been a year.

The hospital website picture
Him about 5 minutes ago. He's changed a bit. He seems a little more happy about being in the world now.
It's been a fun year!
I can't wait to get his official stats on Monday at the doctor's office.
