CAKE

It is tradition for us (now that we've done it twice) to give the baby their own cake for the 1st birthday to do with as they please. Evan was a bit reserved and didn't want to get too messy. Kyle....not so much. Here is when the wheels in his head start spinning. I'm sure he wondered why we were letting him get so close.

This is great, and nobody seems to care that I'm getting messy.

Mmmmm...so slimy and scrumptious. It feels great in my fingers.

I'm so messy, and so cute. He threw most of the missing part on the floor.

Not so happy that his cake is gone and he has to be hosed off. "Cake? Where did you go?"

Birthday Party

We had a party for Kyle today with all the local grandparents and great-grandparents (plus Katie, Jon, and Gayle). Our baby who has been so grouchy lately was great all day. He must have enjoyed being the center of attention or something. He went to people other than Brandon and I which is unheard of, and had great faces as he opened presents.Here he is trying to figure out what was in the package and why we had covered it in paper. Once he saw the toy inside he had a huge grin and tried to kiss it.

Here is his new baby, Cornelius Ben. We got Evan a Cabbage Patch that looked like him for his 1st birthday, so we got one for Kyle too. The hair is a little dark, but not bad.

He loved his Tonka truck from Grandma and Grandpa Warning.

This was his gift from Grandma and Grandpa Stucki. He was so excited to walk behind it. Now he can go even faster, and not worry as much about falling.

Evan was also very excited about the gifts. He opened most of them for Kyle, but said they were all for Kyle and did a pretty good job letting Kyle play with them. I think he claimed this gift from Jon and Gayle for himself though. Quite the haul for only being 1.

Week in Review

It's been a while since I posted, so I thought I'd just put up a few pictures from the week.This is the best part of the day with Kyle. The part where he sleeps. He has a molar trying to come through (or at least it looks like it) and he is really grouchy a lot of the time. We treasure the sleeping moments lately.

He did decide to try to take care of Evan's doll one day. He was trying to get him in the little baby cradle, and when he couldn't figure it out (it was upside down) he walked the baby over to the gate to the bathroom and tossed him in. I guess he had given up on parenting.

We got a Wii for our anniversary (I know, so romantic). Brandon was very surprised that I wanted to get it, but we love it. As you can see Evan loves it too (more than he enjoys wearing pants). For those of you Wii players out there, they are playing cow racing. I don't think Brandon was trying very hard.

Projects

We decided to take on some of our summer projects Monday and Tuesday. Here is what we have done so far.It is disgusting how much dirt there is on the deck. I never realize it until we begin the pressure washing. Much improved. We still have to reseal it, but that will come this weekend probably.

Here is Brandon, working hard in the rain. Go figure we picked the worst day of the week to do it, but he would have been wet anyway (or at least that was what I told him before he went out).

Brandon also made cute little planter boxes for the deck with my dad. We now have 6 of them with various flowers in them. Evan picked snapdragons as his flower (he thought dragons sounded "awesome"). We have geraniums, violas, and trailing lobelia, plus one full of herbs.

All the projects and trips to Lowe's and Home Depot have exhausted the boys. I love how there heads are tipped the same way, and somehow they always are when they fall asleep in the car.

Hungry Boy

Apparently Kyle was hungry this morning. While I was eating breakfast he was quiet (never a good sign) so I didn't worry about it. I finished to find him sitting in the snack drawer exploring his options. I'm lucky he didn't break the drawer.

Happy Anniversary/Birthday

Sunday was our 6 year wedding anniversary, and Monday was my birthday. We had a great anniversary dinner at Brandon's parents. We spent our first anniversary with them so it seemed like a good idea to do it again. After we got home and got the kids to bed I made Brandon watch our wedding video with me. We don't have a professional video, just video relatives took, but it was fun. We realized how much we have aged in the last 6 years. Brandon surprised me the day before with pretty flowers and a coke (he knows me well).

For my birthday my mom, sister, and I went to get pedicures. The massage chair and sea-salt massage were fabulous. After that I came home and went shopping with Brandon and the boys. We bought them a bunch of summer wear, mostly Evan since he has outgrown everything. I know it was my birthday, but I like shopping for them, and they got some cute stuff. Then for I think the 15th year we went to Spaghetti Factory for my birthday dinner. It was us, Katie, my parents, and all of my grandparents. I loved it as usual.

Katie gave me an awesome gift this year. A gift certificate for dessert and a night of babysitting whenever we want. We're excited to go out to eat when she gets back from Boston. I got lots of clothes from my parents and Brandon (and a good nights rest because he got up with the baby), but I think best of all was Evan. He was so excited for me all day and he made sure everyone wished me Happy Birthday. He told me Happy Birthday every hour or so all day long, and then at the restaurant he made everyone sing to me. He was so cute. Kyle gave me some good hugs, so that was nice too. It was a great two days!
